Printing problems

Whenever I try to print a page from the browser window, I
get random smiley faces, hearts, and other characters
across the page over the regular text, then they continue
to print another few pages with these characters.
 
Could be a driver issue. Make sure you have the correct
printer drivers installed for your printer.
 
I've been printing without a problem for the past year.
It is only recently that this problem began.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the printer with the
drivers. It did not help.
