Hi,

I'm having difficulties setting up printing from a Solaris 8 box with
HP JetDirect software to an HP 5000 printer. Actually smaller
postscript job work fine, but larger ones, which are the norm, don't
work. We get error messages like shown below
Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jon

These look like error messages from the printer or from
the HP Jetdirect software.

You have a case where a simple Postscript file prints fine, but
a complex (or large) one doesn't. The people who can explain
this will have to be the folks who support the printer.

They're also the ones who can tell you how to get the printer
to tell you in more detail what it doesn't like about the file.

The error messages you're getting suggest to me that there's
either a syntax error in the file (above, it's saying the command
"defa" is not defined), or the printer is running out of memory
to handle the file's size or complexity. However, I'm not an
expert in how printers barf on Postscript files.
