printing problem

hi,
i am trying to fill-out the necessary places on a 11 cm x7,5 cm card by
printing a report. however, i can't understand if the report area includes
the margins? i give thicker margin then the default values assigned by the
printer(HP LaserJet 8100 PCL6) to avoid printing problems. however the top
margin is more than the default determined one by the driver, left margin is
ok. also, users may use a range of printers to print out the report, what
should i do to handle this for all kind of printers?

is it important to set the size of report area to the size of paper what was
selected in printer options?
