I have a request from a user for their print jobs to be
assigned priority to the network printer they are printing
to. We are using HPLJ4050s that are mapped through a Win2K
print server. Is there a way to fufill this request
globally, rather than have to watch for their print jobs
in the queue and assign them a higher priority there?
Thanks for any info.

Nevermind. Solved my own problem. Thought I would post it
here to share with everyone. This info is straight from
the help menu of printing services on the server.

To set different print priority to different groups

Open Printers.
Right-click the printer you want to set, click Properties,
and then click the Advanced tab.
In Priority, click the up or down arrows, and then click
OK.
Or, type a priority level, where 1 is the lowest level and
99 is the highest, and then click OK.

Click Add Printer to add a second logical printer for the
same physical printer. For instructions, see Related
Topics.
Click the Advanced tab.
In Priority, set a priority higher than that of the first
logical printer.
Instruct the regular group of users to use the first
logical printer name, and the group with higher priority
to use the second logical printer name. Set the
appropriate permissions for the different groups.

Based on this information, you should also be able to
restrict who has access to the prioritized printer through
the Security tab. Essentially, you could create a virtual
printer for each user, and assign each a different
priority level.

Hope this information helps someone !
