Printing photo number with photographs

Does anyone know how to have the photo number (or file number) print next to the photograph when printing multiple photos on a sheets (ie 4 photos per page)?

This would be very handy as reference to the photo number.

I know yu can do it with PaintShop Pro. Maybe other photo editors too
