Hello,

How are old HP printers with no NIC added to W2K Adv Srvr to be shared?
Is using an external jet direct card with a static ip the only way?

Thank you.

If you are having printer driver issues: If it is a real old one, you can
connect it to the LPT1 port and use a generic driver like HP Laser Jet III
driver.

There are a few ways to share a printer.
1. External jet direct with parrallel port (ex170) (direct network
connection)
2. connect printer to the LPT1 port of the server and share it to the
network
3. Use a LPT1 Print sharing device such as a product called SNAP which is a
dasiy chain LPT port sharing device.

I am sure there are other ways.

Hi,

Connect the Printer to LPT of a nearby Workstation,
install and Start (Automatic) the TCP/IP-PrintService
(WinSetup;"Other Network File and Printservices", "Unix
PrintService") on it, and create a Queue, sharing is not
necessary.

Create a Queue on your PrintServer with a Standard-Port:
IP=Workstation, Protocol=LPR, Service=QueName on the Wkst,
ByteCounting enabled.
