Hi,

we buyed an Epson LQ300+ with a serial and a parallel port to print
from a Siemens OP7 mashine (serial). The OP7 is no PC and a special
cable is required. This cable was provided by Siemens and the pins
were tested to fit the specifications. Anyhow, the printer does not
work and we want to test if the serial port of the printer is all
right.

The Epson prints successfully via parallel port from a PC, but not
correctly via serial one. It's printing nonsense and does not stop.
From Epson we got the hint to use a null modem cable 9 to 25 pins as
described under the link
http://www.handshake.de/infobase/dfue/technik/t238.htm#6 (chapter
"Anschlußbelegung für Null Modem Kabel (9 auf 25)"). The Printer has
25 pins and the PC 9.

But this did not help. Has anyone an idea to verify the printer's
serial port ?

Thanks, Michael.

Check the RS-232 parameters are the same both the printer and the
Siemens OP7. Baud rate, number of bits, stop bit, parity, etc. The
user manual for the LQ-300+ will have the information and also how to
set the parameters.
