I would like to print out a list of titles of documents in folders in Windows Explorer. However, when I try to print, the entire document contents is being printing. I would just like to print the title of documents in each folder not the document itself. Thanks. Pat.

I guess you could do that with a script via word application or via
fileobject but then may be some one else have a better way.

There is no direct method to print a list of files or directories from
Microsoft Windows. And, as you have found, the Print command on the
Windows Explorer File menu sends the selected files to the printer.

However, if the "documents" are files created by Microsoft Word, and
if you have Microsoft Office and have installed the Microsoft Outlook
Integrated File Management Advanced Find component, then you can print
the list using the Advanced Find Print command.

For more information about the following related topics search
Microsoft Outlook help for the phrase:

- Print a view of a file list
- About viewing files in Microsoft Outlook
- Troubleshoot finding items and files with Advanced Find
- Search for items and files using Advanced Find
- Add or remove fields in a view
- Sort grouped items in a table
- Set up or remove individual components

And if you have any questions about the Microsoft Outlook Integrated
File Management Advanced Find component I suggest that you post in the
following newsgroup:

microsoft.public.outlook.general

If you read the newsgroups using the Microsoft Communities Web Page:

If you read newsgroups using a NNTP newsreader, such as Outlook
Express, and use the msnews.microsoft.com news server:

Greetings --

From the command prompt (Start > Run > Cmd.exe), simply change to
the desired directory and type "dir > filelist.txt" or "dir > lpt1,"
just as you used to do in DOS. Any of the switches for the DIR
command (type "dir /?") will work with this command, if you wish to
modify the output. You can then subsequently edit the resulting text
file using NotePad, WordPad, Word, etc.

Laura,

You did not complete the entire procedure listed here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=321379. Missing the last section causes the problem you indicated.

Type regsvr32 /i shell32 in Start/Run dialog to fix this problem.

Okay, I have completed all steps except now it goes immediately to a search instead of opening the file folder (just as it said it might). The problem is that I can not find the "Registry Editor" to fix it. HELP!!!!!!! What do I do now!! By the way, I still can not print the folder list!!!!

YW Laura. Glad to be of assistance.
