Jeff

I have a Windows 2000 server that hosts several printers. We are having
problems with all of the pritners:

1. Print jobs get sent but only 24 bytes of the job get spooled to the
printer.
2. No errors are logged in the event logs
3. Users with admin rights can print just fine

How do I troubleshoot this? What direction do I need to go?

Thanks,

Jeff

Can regular users print after an admin sends a job to the printer?

Do the queues use the same printer driver? And what driver(s) are you using?
What service pack version of W2k?

To answer your questions:
Can regular users print after an admin sends a job to the printer?
No, even after an admin sends a job the users have problems.
Do the queues use the same printer driver?

The problem happens on queues using a variety of drivers.
And what driver(s) are you using?

HP LaserJet 1300
HP LaserJet 1200
HP LAserJet 1100
HP InkJet 1200
HP InkJet 2200
What service pack version of W2k?
Service Pack 4

Thanks,

Jeff Poling

How/when did the printing problems appear? Did you upgrade one of the
printer drivers? Did you apply the w2k SP4? Did you have the problem right
from the begginning, i.e. right when you installed the print queues?

Do you have any queue/driver that does work fine?

Jeff, I should mention that I won't be able to read messages for the next 2
weeks (on vacation).

I was able to determine that there was a problem with the IP port that the
printer was using. Correcting the port setup eliminated the problem.

Thanks,

Jeff
