I want to configure a printer in windows 2000 to print a
txt file to an specific folder in my network. I create a
printer with the "Generic / Only text" driver and
the "File" port selected. When you print a windows appears
and you must put the whole location (\\computer\shared
folder\file name) to save the file. Is there any way to
configure this "File port" to put the file in the same
folder anytime without to put every time? If it is not
possible to configure this port, is there any program that
creates a port to do this?

Thank iin advance for your colaboration.

Weben,

Instead of selecting the "FILE:" port, you can create a new port and name it
as the file name you want to obtain.
When printing to it, the file will be created without user intervention.

A lot of thanks Davide, I have test it, and works like you
say but it is not exactly that i need, because i want to
name the file "printed" different (user must put the name
to the file) every time that is printed.

So, if I have correctly understood your need, you want the user to insert a
file name, but you don't want he have to put the complete path in the
"FILE:" port dialog to obtain the user's file in a predefined directory.

Is this right ?

Saludos,
Davide.
