Printing Handouts with Background

I have two presentations (not written by me) from the same template which
include some background items e.g., the company logo.

When I print handouts (3 per page, scale to fit, b/w) one prints the
background items but not the other. As far as I can tell the slide masters
and handout masters are the same for both.

Is there some vital setting I am missing or what is the story?

View the presentation in Grayscale (View > Color/Grayscale). Can you see the
background now? If not you need to adjust your grayscale settings.

Start with your slide Master: View > Master > SLide Master
View > Color/Grayscale
CTRL-A (selects everthing on the slide)
In your Grayscale toolbar, select Settings > Grayscale.

Now your background should appear. If not, close out of Master View and
repeat these steps on the slide(s) in question.

Short version: if you put PowerPoint into B/W view, do the background items
also disappear on the one presentation?

If so, choose View, Master, Slide Master and right click the shapes that aren't
showing, choose B/W settings and see if they're set to something other than
Automatic. Try changing them back to Auto if so.

Thanks Sandy
Viewing in grayscale didn't work, but I did found that if I print in
"colour" on a black & white printer I get what I want.
