I have windows server 2003 acting as a workgroup site and I have two clients. The clients can print successfully across the network from word, excel and other loaded software, but they cannot print from IE. This latter problem is very resent and seemed to occur after a server reboot. Has anybody any ideas as to how I can solve this problem?

Same here too. Trying to narrow this down. We have a Windows 200
Server acting as a domain controller and print server. The printer i
question is the Dell Multifunction 1600n Workgroup Laser/Fax/Scanner.

Same problem when printing from IE - SMARTUI "Access is denied."
Hangs, not crashes, the print spooler service. Once restarted th
printers reappear in the Printers menu but a print-from-IE crashes i
again.

I'm thinking this has to do with XceedSoft's SMARTUI component whic
the printer drivers must use to control print jobs and scans.

Did you guys just add the printer as you would through the Add Printe
Wizard or did you use the printer's driver setup? Haven't tried th
printer's setup yet but will do that next. I suspect somehow that'
the problem

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I am running a Serve
2003 as a printer server in our domain. I get this smartui erro
sometimes a dozen times a day, locking up or crashing the prin
spooler. I have also had this smartui error show up on a local printe
queue (A Samsung printer). If anyone has some ideas, please respond

I have almost the same problem. I am running Windows Small Business
Server 2003 with two printers: one Samsung ML-1710 on a USB port, and
an HP OfficeJet R40xi on the parallel port. I can print without any
problem from the console, even from IE. The problem is with the other
computers in the network, which run XP or Win2000. Printing on to the
ML-1710 from IE always crashes the Print Spooler service, and pops up
the error dialog box "Can't load SMARTUI-Utilities library (code 5).
Access is denied". The print job is queued before the crash, because if
you restart the service right away, the document which causes the
service to crash prints. Once the print spooler service has crashed, no
other print jobs would be queued. Printing from other applications
works fine. Printing to the other printer, even from IE, works fine. I
removed the printer driver and reinstalled the latest version, but the
problem is still there. Do you have any clue of what is going on here?

I'm having the exact same issue with our Samsung ML-1750. The error
stated above is the same one that pops up on our server. The networked
computers can print from everything else but IE. I have tried updating
all drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling, yet nothing so far has
seemed to work. I would love any help or advice for this annoying
problem!

I have the same issue with a 2003 server and samsung ml-1755. Any
printting from IE (either Win2k or XP clients)
I fixed it by disabled spooling for this particular printer by enable
print directly to the printer. No error for a week now.
