Printing envelopes in Windows XP

I'm a new XP user and find I cannot print envelopes the
way I did with Windows 98. I create an document that
consists of the address. That document appears on
Wordpad, which is different from 98. On the Wordpad
taskbar there is no "Tools" key, which I used to hit to
get the "Envelopes/Labels"

I'm probably missing something simple, but would
appreciate advice.

Thanks.

This sounds as if your had Microsoft Word installed on your old
computer. WordPad is not the same thing. Rather, it is a stripped-down
wordprocessing application that lets you do a few simple things.

In order to get Tools | Envelopes and Labels (and a whole host of other
features), you must install some version of Microsoft Word. If you have
your old CD that had, for example Word97, you can use that. Otherwise,
you'll have to buy it. The least expensive way is to get the Microsoft
Works Suite, which includes the full version of Word:
http://www.microsoft.com/products/works/

Alternatively, you can get WordPerfect or Open Office (free)
http://www.openoffice.org/product/
(the Open Office wordprocessor is described as "WRITER has everything
you would expect from a modern, fully equipped word processor" so I
would expect it to be able to handle envelopes.

I've never used Works 7.0, so I don't know if the wordprocessor
application included with this product will do what you want.
