I just got a new computer with Vista and Windows Professional. I am working
in Word and every time I want to print I get an error that says The Active
Directory Domain is Currently Unavailable.

My printer is connected to my computer, how come I can't print in any of the
Microsoft software programs? I need to resolve this so that I can print my
documents. Please help. Thanks

Have you got the drivers for the printer installed?
If the computer is new, haven't you got some sort of technical suport with
the company you purchased it from?

Yes I did contact HP about setting up my HP Photosmart C6180 All in One to my
new HP Pavilion PC. We downloaded drivers and new updates. When I am in my
email section, I can print the emails. I can also print online articles. But
when I am in any of my software programs (i.e. Word, Excel, Publisher etc) I
keep getting the same message "The Active Directory Domain is Currently
Unavailable". I need to know how to correct this so that I can print my
business cards and documents.

I am getting very frustrated with Vista, especially since I was an XP user
for a long time. I need to be able to get some work done. Please help.

Thanks in advance.

I'd love to be able to help, but sadly, my knowledge of Vista runs about as
far as it's made by Microsoft, and runs on a PC...
Doing a quick Google search for 'Active Directory Domain Services is
Currently Unavailable' throws up a fair number of hits, so I'm guessing your
not the only one with this problem, though I couldn't see any obvious
solutions having had a (very) quick look through.

Maybe you could try posting your problem in a dedicated VISTA newsgroup...
eg
microsoft.public.windows.vista.general

Or get back to HP Tech Support with this specific problem and see if they
can help you...

Good luck. :-)

It might help someone pinpoint the problem if you can give an exact
step-by-step (click-by-click(?)) description of what you do to get the
error. Starting from when you have the document loaded into word, all ready
to begin printing.

Thanks for your help. I ended up calling HP back about my printer and we
uninstalled the setup and reinstalled, rebooted, and tested a printing from
the computer.........and it finally worked. I also kept him on line while I
tested printing from the different software. We don't know what the problem
was, but now it seems to have been resolved.

Thanks again,
Terra
