In the old PPT or in Word you can 'insert field' and selct things like
numpages, filename, date last saved, etc.

is there any way to do this in the 2007 version?

Hi H,

Yes in Word, no in PowerPoint. The new version may have this ability, we'll
have to wait for one of the beta testers to confirm.

You may want to look at the Merge feature of PPTools, it is rather handy and
does this sort of field replacement easily.

Yes I can do it in Word.

But in PPT I'd like to for example on my handout pages include the file path
and name or number of pages in the footer, or on my title slide include the
version number and save date. Etc.

Thanks

Thanks, I'll try that.

(It's disapointing that such basic functionality can't be standard in
Microsoft apps.)

You have to use code to put a file path into PPT. Here's info:
