I have just bought an Epson Photo R200, and I am trying to print
directly on to CDs using pre-formatted images for CD labels that have
come with concerts that I have downloaded (and paid for) from the
band's official web sites.

I am using the Print CD software that came with the printer, and have
one simple problem. Whenever I import the image that I want to use into
the program, it shows up as a tiny image that does not fill out the CD
outline show on the screen. There does not seem a way to expand the
image or fiddle with it in any way so that it can be printed properly.

I am inexperienced with graphics programs and so assume that I am
missing something very basic. If anybody could help I would be very
grateful.

Many thanks.

The basic:

Your screen resolution is not as high of resolution as the epson can
print at. To be honest, I don't know how high that printer can print
at, the number they give is rather bogus. 300dpi is lowish for a
printer, 600dpi is highish. CD is 5 x 5 (120mm by 120mm) there and
abouts, so we are dealing with an image that is at the very minium
1500x1500, or 3000x3000.

I don't know your screen, but windows xp's minium is 800x600, where
1024x768 is not unusual. Full sized screen is going to be smaller than
a CD assuming a resolution of 300 dpi, so anything small on screen is
going to be small on CD.

But if you set an image as a background, if i'm remembering the
software correctly, it will streach it. Or you can grab it at any one
of the corners (left mouse button, hold and drag) and make it larger.
I believe holding down the shift key will keep it square or at least
the same ratio. Keep in mind that for every square cm you print, you
should try to find images at least 125x125 pixles in size, if 300x300.
It's a good printer and you can see the difference.

The preview on the screen may not be accurate
The image may be too small to be expanded to the space to be filled.

Have you actually tried printing? If not, print one on paper and see how it
matches.
