Hi,

I just completed my first spreadsheet (50 rows, eight
columns) and I need to print it out on one page. But it
prints out on four pages--to large.

Is there a way to print it on one page (it is small
enough to fit on one page. Like, can I use print screen,
or something? Please help. Project due Monday.
Thanks,
mdelmatt

mdelmatt,

Use Print Preview to check the closest fit your s/s range has (portrai
or landscape). While in Print Preview, choose the "Margins" button o
the tool bar. This will make the margins visible and these can b
clicked and dragged with your mouse to reposition them to try t
squeeze your info on to one page. Be careful you don't overdo it fo
your printer parameters.
If this still doesn't work, try the Setup button and use the Scalin
adjustment to try to get the result you want (this appears on th
"page" tab). Try using the default increments of 5% reduction to se
when your page will finally format on to one sheet.

Good luck with the assignment!

... and you need to check the width of your columns.

Quick way ... highlight entire sheet by clicking in the blank grey spo
between the column and row labels, move your cursor along column letter
(A, B, C, etc) until it changes appearance from a solid white cross to
dark line with arrows pointing left and right, then double click. Thi
will automatically adjust your column settings to the best fit. I
some of these are too wide due to the amount of data in the column
highlight the problem column(s) then choose Format > Cells > Alignmen
(tab) > Wrap Text. Manually adjust the column width until the width i
what you're after and this will force the cell with large amounts o
data to increase the row height to accommodate the wrapped text. If th
row height doesn't adjust automatically for this (Excel 97 occasionall
forgets to do this), highlight the row and drag the height until yo
can see all the text.

I just thought of something else. When you are viewing in Print Preview
check to see if any of the 4 pages are blank.
Go back to normal view and highlight the area you want to have printed
Choose File > Print area > set print area to tell Excel that's all yo
want to include in a printed version.

And one more:

file|page setup|page tab
change the "Fit to" to be 1 page wide by 1 page tall.

If limiting the area to be printed works, then the actual
problem would be the used range, and setting the
print area is not a cure but a work around.

Check your used range with Ctrl+End, if that cell is
away from the intersection of what you want as your
last row and last column then you would need to delete the
rows and columns that Excel thinks are still there.

If the sheet just almost fits then you can set pages wide to 1 as in
File, Page Setup, General (tab)
Print Pages ___ wide by ___ tall
(these are two independent limits you can set).
I see Dave Peterson mentioned that but the part about the settings
being independent might not be clear.l
