I am trying to print a power point document. The document
has pictures and letters. over the pictures and letter i
put boxes with fill effects (difuminations betwen red an
transparent) BUT when I print the document the boxes
block the letters and pictures because they do not print
transparent. My oprerating system is windows xp and my
office is office xp my printer is a HP deskjet 1220c.

thanks

Unfortunately, gradient transparencies seem to display nicely but don't
print on some (many? all?) printers.

Try selecting the shape with the transparent gradient fill and the shapes
beneath it, then choose Edit, Copy. Then Paste Special, as PNG. Delete the
oringinally copied shapes.

That should look the same but print properly.
