Printgear on XP

If anyone is still interested in doing this (thereby getting
600dpi) there is a clunky workaround. Install a Windows 95
virtual machine that runs under XP (checkout the Microsoft
product Virtual PC 2004). You can print postscript to a file;
pass it to the Windows 95 VM; open it with Ghostscript and
print to your printgear printer.

It is a bit tedious by hand but I can't find a good way of
automating it. If anyone comes up with a smart way of doing
this let me know at duncan.hardy @ the above domain. Thanks.

PS Unfortunately Virtual PC isn't cheap unless you have another
use for it. Fun to play with tho'... Evaluation copies are
available for download from Microsoft.

I think you could do that with PrintFile
<http://www.lerup.com/printfile/>.
You can print PS to file, and Printfile can be setup to watch a
folder, and run any PS files that appear there through GS. I did this
quite successfully with a DOS app that printed to PS and a PCL
printer.

be of interest.
