Printers won't keep 'default' setting under XP -Adobe Acrobat prob

I happen to have XP, with two possible printers - one home, one elsewhere.
Now, my home 815C cannot maintain its default status - what a hassle! I am
constantly having to go in and re-default it, since it keeps going over to
the HP 3720 installed recently with a download program to my new PC. Is this
caused by Acrobat Reader pro? It is also happening with Outlook printing of
e-mails. Could someone inform the tech folks? Could someone tell me how to
maintain my default printer designations as I want them, when I want them
that way?

Theres no need to 're default it' instead of using the 'print' option,
File>Print> select printer from dropdown

XP will default to the first printer it finds if the original default
printer becomes unavailable. (Think of it as XP's comfort blanket, it likes
to know it has a printer as a friend)

Thanks, Cari...so that would mean I should now re-install the 815C - that
would mean the 815C is the latest installation. Perhaps that will overcome
the newer other-HP printer. That would give my XP the more recent comfort
blanket of the..old trusty and most-used home printer. I'll give that a try,
based on your security-blanket reference, as I am sure it was not most
recently installed.

You may find that the HP drivers will set one as default and not the other,
some manufacturers think it's a good thing to predetermine our choices....
which of course may not be the same as theirs!
