I'm a REALTOR, and I have this crazy notion of having a completely
mobile office in my car in Florida. I can mount my notebook on a
Jotto Desk in my Grand Marquis and have pretty nice wireless bandwidth
with an EDGE capable phone. Cars in Florida get REALLY hot with the
windows rolled up in August. I've melted audio CDs before. I would
never leave my notebook in the car for long periods, but it would be
nice to be able to print and scan documents. That way I could print
up a contract, have it signed, scan it in, and e-fax it to the listing
agent's office, all from the car! The operating temperatures on most
laserprinters that I have seen seem to be around 95 degrees
fahrenheit. Anybody know of a printer that might withstand these
extreme temperatures if I was to leave it in the car?

Cheers.

Inkjet printers are really cheap - just pick one that has the heads built
into the removable carts and give it a try.

I've fried a couple of cellphones that way here in Phoenix. I recommend
carrying a white towel in the car and covering the equipment so the sun
doesn't hit it. CWatters' idea of a cheap inkjet with replaceable heads
sounds good. HP deskjets have the heads built into the cartridges. The
cartridges tend to be expensive ($40 each or so), but I suspect that's a
reasonable cost of doing business for you even if they don't last long.
