Printers being dropped from Windows 2000 Pro machines

We are having an issue where Windows 2000 Pro machines lose their printers as
if they were deleted. This happens at random using Lexmark laser printers
with a W2K Print Server. Nothing is marked in the Event Viewer on either the
Server or the Client.

check the print spooler in services to see if it has crashed and stopped
.... restarting it should bring the printers back but the reason for the
stopped spooler is where the mystery lies.
