Exactly WHAT printer?
Have you gone to the printer manufacturer and looked for Vista drivers for your
SPECIFIC printer model?

You have a problem -- why can no-one help you?

Because you haven't given any useful information:

Make and model of your PC -- Did it come with VISTA or did you upgrade
to it? If Upgrade did you get an Express Update from the C maker or buy
a copy of VISTA?

Make and model of your printer -- that means enough to enable us to
look it up -- and when did you buy the printer?

How the printer is connected to the PC -- USB? Parallel? Directly or
via a network and a router or other PC?

Are you trying to install it from a CD that came with the printer or
from a file you downloaded that says it is for VISTA 32 ?

If USB what do the installation instructions for it tell you -- install
software first and then plug in the printer USB cable or plug it in and
turn it on and then install the printer? Did you do this?

What error message did you get?

Tell us all of that and you have a good chance that someone can help
you.

I am having the same problem. I have tried to go to the manufacturer website
and it still won't recognize my printer. It did print a few things then
started doing weird things ie...paper jam, out of paper etc. I have only had
this computer a few days but the printer is nearly a year old. I don't want
to change printers but don't know what else to do.

Tell us which make and model of printer you have!

And you did DISCONNECT the printer BEFORE installing the software didn't
you?

I have an Epson Stylus CX7800. It's an all in one and did work for a while
(2 days maybe) then stopped. The printer is about a year old and the
computer I just got last week. Yes the printer was disconnected when I tried
installing it the first time. I used the CD that came with the printer the
first time. The next time I tried to install after receiving messages that
the paper was jammed or please load paper. Neither was the case so I called
the geek squad and they told me that they could come to my house and install
the printer for $159.99. They said it was bc Windows Vista does not allow
this program and they would have to do it.I did try to go to the website and
I downloaded the printer driver from there but still it isn't working. Also
when I put the CD in the second time to try installing it my computer kept
telling me to put in a disk (it was already there, but not reading it)
Thanks for your help in this matter.

Please answer all the questions I asked -- there is a reason for each of
them.

There is no Lexmark x6300 All in One listed on the Lexmark site -- are you in
the USA or Canada? There is an x6350 for which the driver is named 6300 so
maybe yours is an older printer which is why I asked you when you bought it.

So please answer all the questions.

This is the last time I'll ask -- if you want help, make it possible
for people to help you.

Cari, Thank you for your help. I was able to get my printer up and running
after several tries. Thanks for your help.

Marky,it is due to a compatibility issue with vistaSome companies have
upgraded their drivers. You didn't say what printer you are using.Go to the
manufacturer's website. If there is a driver you will find it there.Download
and you should be ready unless there is another issue I am unaware of.When
seeking help always state your specs. for hardware. It is needed for an
accurate resolution.Good luck.

Well the printer came out well before Vista so you're not going to find
drivers on the CD. You'll find them at the Epson website. Before
installing them, remember to disconnect the printer and ONLY reconnect it
when the software tells you to do so. If you have managed (somehow) to
install the XP drivers, then you may well have to cleanup your PC before the
Vista drivers will correctly install.
