me i have a time out error and to change my settings, i
have tried everything even a dfferant printer and
samething keeps happening its a cannon bjc-4100 and ive
even tried formatting my drive and starting from scratch.
please help if you can. thanks!

If this printer was working on this PC then perhaps the printer port is
to blame. Is the LPT port ok when you look in Device manager? Or
someting wrong with the cable perhaps?

Hi;
Start with the obvious as it will always get you.
1 cmos settings for the port, ( standard, epp spp etc)
2 inspect check the actual port (inside (connectors),
outside, 3 check the actual cable bent pins other visual
damage, and the printer connector (Centronics), 4 Take
known-good second cable ( correct IEEE ), 5 inside windows
like bob said..., 6 The printer properties may offer
some settings depending on your driver. 7 print from dos,
say open dos window do a " dir>lpt1" this will dump a
text-only print job straight to the printer without
windows printing being involved, 8 do a printer self test
without the computer, refer to oem for instructions on
this.
good luck

Manuel
