We have a networked Okidata printer, which is connected to 4 other computers,
running with no problems. I have a 4 month old Dell running XP, which is
also connected. Suddenly it will no longer print. Trying to print from a
webpage, I get the "Explorer has encountered an error and needs to shut down"
message. It will not print from any other software either. I tried
uninstalling and reinstalling the software for the Oki, but Windows will not
finish the reinstallation.

I believe it is a Windows issue, as none of the other PCs are having this
problem. I am so frustrated. Thanks for any help you can give.

Yes I did use system restore. After that didn't help, Dell then tried to
trouble shoot with me and the girl told me to restore to factory settings
(entire system). Now the internet and networking are not working at all. I
just spent 7 hours on the phone with a diffrent Dell rep. He now wants me to
contact their hardware dept. I am beyond frustrated. So don't know if you
can help me there. But if you can, I would appreciate it. Do you think
it's the networking card?

Can you still 'see' the other PCs and printer? Are you in the same
Workgroup as the other PCs?

Is the PC receiving a TCP/IP address from the router?

You probably want to move this problem to the networking group, your card is
probably OK, it's just the configuration settings.

Carl -- Thanks for your help. After another 2 hours with Dell, they are
replacing the mother board!! Thanks again.

Replacing the MBD usually has only a 50-50 chance of fixing your problem.
Having said that, it may be that your specific motherboard has an issue that
Dell is aware of, and that is why they authorized replacement.
