Hi there, my husband and I are complete techno dummies, please bear with us.

We bought a new printer, a HP officejet 6300 all in one series, and we have
a dell computer. We installed the printer with no problem, then suddenly it
wont work anymore. When we try to reinstall it, the error meessage is "print
spooler service not running" and the installation wont let us continue. I
read on here on someone elses post to do a systems restore, umm, not sure
what that means? Can anyone help at all please.

Thanks alot.

To get to system restore: click start---all programs---accessories---system
tools---system restore.
If that does not solve your problem, delete your printer and then
re-install.

Two suggestions before you resort to using System Restore.

First, go to Control Panel and double click Administrative
Tools. In the Administrative Tools folder double click
Services. This should open the Services console. Scroll down to
Print Spooler in the right hand pane. It should read Started
under the Status column and Automatic under the Startup Type
column. If either of these entries are incorrect, right click
on Print Spooler and select Properties from the menu. Make sure
the service is started and the startup type is set to
Automatic. Click OK.

Second, if the above procedure doesn't help solve your problem
you might want to contact HP's technical support to see if they
can provide any assistance.

Good luck

Tonight I was working on my computer and wanted to print something. I received a message that the "Print Spooler service is not running". I had no idea what that meant.
Tried to get some help from Windows. Not being a "computer person" I was not understanding what they were saying. I decided to Google: "printer problems - print Spooler service not running". A lot came up. Lucky for me, I chose PC Review. I chose the post from 6th Nov. 2007. Someone named Nepatsfan had responded to a post from someone who had the same problem. Nepatsfan instructions to fix this problem were so easy to follow. Thank you so much, Nepatsfan, for helping me fix my printer!!

Sincerely,

Grandmasue
