printer spooler not present in services

printer spooler is not present in the services list. Thus,
I can't install a windows printer. DOS programs print
fine, but windows can't even start a add printer wizard
without the spooler. I really need help on this soon.
Thanks.
 
When I use the "net start spooler", I get an error that
the service is not available. Hence my problem.
