I have Windows XP Pro on one computer and Windows XP Home on the other
computer. I want to share one multifunction printer between the two
computers. On the XP Pro computer, when I boot up, I HAVE to be connected to
a printer (otherwise the computer will NOT boot up). On the XP Home
computer, it will boot up even if I don't have a connection to a printer.
It's like XP Pro is screwed up or something. There are USB Switches, but I
have to leave the switch active on my computer, cause otherwise it won't
boot. Is there something I can do so that my computer will boot, even if the
printer is disconnected? Thanks for any help.

Carl,
Could you possibly tell me why my computer will not boot unless it is
connected to a USB printer? Do I need to change something in the BIOS so
that my computer will boot without a printer connected? Or do I need to
change something in Windows? My other computer boots even though it is not
connected to a printer. Thanks again

If the printer has a card slot and your BIOS is configures to look for a USB
drive before the normal order of Floppy, CD, Hard Drive, it's possibly
causing the issues.

The printer doesn't have a card slot (of which I have no idea what that is)
and the BIOS configured to look for a CD, then a floppy, and then lastly a
hard drive. It's like Windows will not boot up unless there is a printer
connected and it has to be USB.
