printer sharing

I have a DSL modem connected to wireless router that is
conected to a desk top thru ethernet.
I have a laptop with wireless pcmcia card and connected to
router.
They are working fine and I can download internet.
Desktop and laptop have different workgroup name as I use
laptop at work and the workgroup is assigned by IT dept at
work.
I put the IP address of the desk top on the laptop. I can
see the workgroup name of the desktop on my laptop;
however I can not see the computer name and the printer
attached to the desk top on the laptop.
All I want to do is to be able to print on the printer
attached to the desk top from laptop wirelessly.
what can I do?
I have checked that the printer is setup for sharing etc.

Are you running ICF or a third party firewall on the desktop? ICF is
not for use at all on a computer not directly connected to the
internet. Third party firewalls have to be carefully configured, and
frequently can't be successfully disabled. I recommend total un
install of any third party firewall until after you get file sharing
working. You're protected by the router - from the internet side
anyway.

Please start by posting ipconfig for both computers. Start - Run -
"ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad,
copy and paste into your next post.
