Printer/scanner/copier advice

Hi! I need a *standalone* printer/scanner for mostly copying (without
PC) and occasional printing and/or scanning. Priority is cost per page
and price, only after that is speed. B/W is enough although colour
would be nice also. Any advice? Thanks!

How much printing/copying are you looking at doing? A photocopier with a
network card could be suitable.

This Brother unit includes a built-in fax, has $50 rebate until 4/1/06, and
has 64-bit drivers available should you upgrade your OS to a 64-bit system.
Brother equipment is avail at many local retailers. I own a Samsung laser
printer and though the product works great, the support is not.

Multifunction scanners are much slower than dedicated-purpose
scanners. Each scan by the former takes 2 to 10 times as much
time as by the latter. Perhaps your decision turns on whether
you scan materials twice per day or twice per month.

Thanks to all! I'll study a littlle bit those links above. The speed of
scanning alone is not important, since I'll scan only once in 3 months.

I have a Brother MFC7420, it works quite good and has a great support
(at least in Italy).
Compared to other printers it's really small, but it's quite noisy and
has some problems with envelopes print (the printer "eats" them...).
The loading mechanism is very strong and works very well.
It's a good piece of hardware, especially for this price (i payed 300 ¤)
