Printer redirection no longer works on one of our servers. I used to be able to connect with Term Server and the printer session was created but now it doesn't even try and establish the session. There are no errors in the event viewer so I'm at a loss.

I assume you've tried rebooting the sytem, right?

Can you verify that in the RDP-TCP properties in the
terminal services configuration that the system is
attempting to map the client's printers?

Hi there,

I'm not sure if this will help but within our company we
use an ad-on product called "screwdrivers" by tricerat
software (www.tricerat.com) This product is great. it
allows you to print in terminal server session to the
local printer installed on the client machine. no more
having printer drivers on the server. Also, you just
install the printer on the local machine as you nornmally
would (no unc or mapping) and it works. It works with all
printers and connection types (local LPT and networked
printers) The printing request is sent directly to the
client machine printer. We have been using if for a
while now with no problems. they have a 30 day trial
download. You may want to check it out.

The server has been rebooted numerous times since the
problem started. And yes, the RDP_TCP properties are
configured to allow mapping the client printers. We've
never changed any of those properties and it used to work
on this server. It isn't even attempting to install the
printer, because I would normally see errors in the system
log when it can't install my printer that it doesn't have
drivers for.

When did it stop working? After you updated either client or server or both?

Hi Matthew,

Quick question have you installed roaming profiles and or
a OU group policy between the time your printer creation
was and then stopped working ???

I am having the same issue (may be)in that I inherited a
Win2K server, that had, at some time had Group Policy and
folder redirection applied, and from what I can find out
from the old support people , that is when the printer
issues started

Robert
