Printer Problems

Help Please,
I have just purchased a new Lexmark X5470 all in one printer, i installed
the software but when i tried to print a document nothing printed.
so i installed it on a different computer and the same thing happened . and
it wasn't untill i uninstalled the firewall that it printed a document.when
i put it back on the first computer it still would not work so i turned off
the firewall still no joy it prints photos from a photo card thats all.
I run windows XP Home sp2

A firewall shouldn't be an issue unless the printer is networked or shared.
Is this the case?

Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes. Check the status of the printer.
Print a test page. If that fails it's likely the printer was not installed
correctly.

Did you have the printer's USB cable plugged in, and was the printer on when
you started the installation of the software? I recommend completely
uninstalling the printer. Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes. Remove the
printer. Uninstall the Lexmark software. Restart the computer start from
scratch.
