Printer Problem - hpfpegn0.exe?

Several hours ago I posted here about my screen saver
running very slowly. At the time I was aware of no other
problems with my computer. Since then I discovered I cannot
print. Investigating further, I find via Task Manager, that
a process called:

hpfpegn0.exe or perhaps hpfpgnO.exe

(I can't distinguish clearly between zero and upper case
letter O here)

is using between 75 and 95% of the CPU. I have searched on
the Internet, and some sites suggest this is a virus - but
those sites are trying to sell me software to remove
viruses. Other sites suggests this is the software that
controls my HP printer, and thus is benign.

Digging into the printer properties I learn that there is a
document, named http://support.microsof... with the
status of deletin... that I don't recognize and cannot
remove. Items I try to print are listed below it, and I can
delete them, but not this one which seems to be jammed in
place.

Any ideas on how to get rid if it, which I believe would
then free up my printer to work normally, and get rid of the
CPU usage by hpfpegn0.exe?

Many thanks.

Can you delete it if you boot into safe mode?

Thanks for the suggestion. Before I received your message
the problem went away after I deleted the contents of a
"temp" directory and a "temporary internet files" directory.
Thanks again.
