Printer problem HP Laser Jet 4p

I have a problem with printing from my PC to the printer.
I get occasional RANDOM spurious letters, almost cryillic
looking. These appear randomly, and with all print
jobs, from web, from WordPerfect and Microsoft word
programs. My PC is using Windows XP.

I have verified from other PCs that this problem seems to
be unique to my Windows XP, and not a printer or printer
buffer problem, as it does not happen with Windows 98 or
Windows 95 if I hook up to my old PCs
 
Try uninstalling the printer driver and re-installing a known good copy of
the current driver. Otherwise you may need to check your printer port
settings or possibly replace your printer cable.
