Printer Problem at startup

About every other time I startup my Windows XP, the
printer is nor recognized. I need to restart 2 or 3 times
for it to be recognized. Any help?

What make and model printer is it?

When did it last work correctly?

What has changed on the PC since it last worked correctly?

received a new HP tower XP Home P.4 2 weeks ago, where my

dell XP, and this printer worked fine. Ever since I got

my new system, it won't recognize the printer at various
startups. I have tried the original driver that came with
the printer, tried the driver that was on my new PC, and
downloaded the most up to date driver from HP. All with
the same result. It's fine until I turn it off, and the
next startup it does not recognize the printer - says not
connected of connection error. After retarting 2 or 3
times, it then recognizes it. Any hekp is appreciated.
