You didn't give us much to go on. :>(
But the problem is most likely with your printer driver. Visit the printer
maker's website and download the current drivers for WinXP for your printer
model.
Or post back, telling us the make and model of your computer and of your
printer. Someone here might recognize them and give you a better answer.
Also, in your next post, tell us such things as HOW you turn off your
computer. (Just push the power button? Or use the Start | Shut Down | Shut
Down procedure?) And, do you turn off your printer before or after you turn
off the computer? Does the printer print the same characters each time? Or
just random "garbage"? The more relevant details you give us, the more
likely that we can help you.
