Hi,
I have an issue where printer ports vanish from Windows 2000 after the
server has been running for a few hours, printing still functions as required
but to be able to edit or add a new port I have to re-boot the server.
Re-starting the spooler server service alone does not resolve the issue. Can
anyone help with what we can look at for this issue.....
I have does a search of the web to find similar issues, and the following
seems to match the symptoms, but no working fix is posted..

“By this, I mean that when you click on PROPERTIES on a printer and go to
the PORTS tab, there is nothing there. Likewise, if you try to add a new
printer, no ports appear (even the LPT ports). I know they are there because
users can still
print to the existing printers. Even when I try to add a new port, it will
not show up in the list.â€
A little supporting info if it helps…..
The system is Windows 2000 Standard Server / SP4
HP ML530 hardware single CPU, 2.5GB RAM
