Printer Permissions

Anyone know how I can enable users to add printers on lpt1
to a laptop logged on as a local user without the printers
setup software? They get error that they must be an admin
to install hardware. I do not want the user loging on as
a local admin. They will not have setup disks available
for all the various printers they may encounter.

You might try adding them to the power users local group on their machine to see if
that works. Power users certainly have more rights that a regular user, but a lot
less that an administrator and local Group Policy can be configured to lock them down
quite a bit which they will not have the ability to override. Of course they will be
able to install a lot more software as a power user. I know of no way that a regular
user can do what you want. --- Steve
