Hi all, I've got an issue that's annoying me. I've got a
print server that is not displaying the printers in AD.
What's odd is that after I reboot the server everything
shows up and all is good, but then a few days later they
don't show up again. Does anyone know what service is
responsible for this? I believe this is the reason why
sometimes it'll show in AD but I'll get an error saying it
can't connect to the printer or the path has changed.

Thanks in advance,

Ryan

Hi Ryan-

There's a component called the AD Printer Pruner. Defualt behavior is to
'prune' or remove published print queues (a.k.a published printers) when
they don't respond to occasional 'polls' or checks to see if they are
present.

This can be disabled though. Here's some links to more detailed information
on this feature:

Tim, thank you for replying to this post. The first
article you pointed to was somewhat similar to what I'm
experiencing but this is only happening on one server, not
on the other printer server on the site. It makes no
sense as to why this one would be acting up. I'm going to
reinstall SP4 to see if that makes a difference.
