Hi,
You may need to clarify this a little but here is some
possible scenario's:
1) When you go to "Add Printer" the selection box between
Local and Network printer is unchangeable.
This happens either when there is no network connection
recognised by windows or windows is deceidedly screwer or
you have some sort of permissions denying you from adding
network printers. I would try getting to the machine
(\\machinename) and if you can get there and see a
printer, double click on it to install it.
2) You are trying to add an IP based printer.
When you add an IP based printer you have to select local
printer then you want to add port --> Standard TCP/IP
port. This will then allow you to add a TCP/IP printer. If
you don't have this port option available to you (typicaly
windows 95/98 machines) then you will need the proper
JetDirect printer drivers if it is a HP printer or the
drivers for that printer if it is another type.
3) You are trying to share a printer
Make sure the enable the Share printers and files option
under the network control panel. Once that is done you can
share a printer.
Basicly if you can't add a network printer you either a)
have a network issue or b) have a permissions issue.
If it's none of these can you please clarify a little.
Cheers
