Printer no longer visible (clearly a bug!)

I noticed a major problemm within windows xp home. It
happens within control panel, printers and faxes. After a
while no the add new printer wizard stops working. In
other words you can click it all you want to add printer,
nothing, it won't load and don't do anything almost as
you had never clicked on it. Then it don't come up with
an error or anything, it just don't work.

Furthurmore, after a while of using a clean install of
windows xp home, you will no longer be able to see you
printer. You can go to printers and faxes, printer will
not show up. It can print but will NOT show up. Almost as
if you don't have any printers installed. So because of
this, forget troubleshooting printer problems in windows
xp home. Heck I can't even cancel a simple print job now!

Now let me also say this same thing has happened on 3
completely different systems running windows xp home.
This is proof of just another bug in windows xp home tat
microsoft has STILL yet to fix.

If there is anyone here who knows how to fix this or get
around this please let me know. I would like to be able
to add and delete printers, also cancel printer jobs in
the queue. I am strapped without a printer right now and
I desperately need important documents printed for a job
this evening.

At last, as it is right now, I DO NOT recommend windows
xp home to anyone. It is an extremely buggy operating
system that microsoft will not fix. I have found similar
bugs in it 4 months ago (check desk for example, which
does the same thing, click it over and over and nothing),
still no updates to fix all of these problems.

This problem often happens after updating XP, and affects both Home
and Pro versions. I have yet to find a solution, but this issue is
frequently posted in this NG and on many message boards, though the
wording often varies. For those who do not have Lexmark printers, the
Lexmark printer solution does not fix this issue. Indeed, I have
observed diverse registry entires that vary from those listed in the
Lexmark solution. If more people with the same problem would respond
to these posts, it would be possible to establish some basic
parameters of this issue in order to work together to fix it.
