I replaced a printer which previously was accessable Desktop (DT) and
Laptop(LT) computers (both w2k Sp2) networked via router. DT is set as
WORKGROUP and LT as NTDOMAIN (to be connected to a LAN at my office).
I installed the printer on DT as a local one and then shared it, assigning
it a name HLLaserJ (the name poped up itself).
Then I tried to install the printer on LT via Start-Settings-Printers:
Add Printer
Network printer
Find a printer in the directory - this did not work as it showed only
NTDOMAIN and did not show WORKGROUP
Type the printer name or click Next to browse for a printer (I clicked NEXT)
The next screen shows UKDOMAIN and WORKGROUP
Under WORKGROUP show the name of DT (MEDION) and under MEDION shows the
HPLaserJ printer and in the next column the name HPLaserJet4L, which I gave
to this printer when added it on DT.
When I select this printer it shows up in the field above as
\\MEDION\HPLaserJet4L
The box "Printer information" reads:
Comment:
Status: ready Documents waiting: 0
After I click NEXT I am getting:
