"Printer name is invalid"

I did security updates (including service pack 2) on a computer with Windows
XP. My Lexmark E210 printer quit working after that. I uninstalled the
printer and tried to reinstall several times, using the disk, and even
downloading new drivers from the Lexmark site). I keep getting an error
message saying the install failed because the "Printer name is invalid". Can
you help me please?
