I wonder if a printer could be modified to print directly on 'coppe
clad boards' for making printed circuits, whether laser o
bubblejet

Obviously the ink would have to be resistant to the etching fluid an
obviously has to be a straight feed through it

One of my latest crazed thoughts, what do you think...

Try one. All you need is a pc board the size of a CD and CD capable
printer. Otherwise you could use the printer transfer method.

Inkjet printers are already used to print the circuit tracks, and
components, directly. Try a Google on: 'inkjet circuit deposition'.

And it's not just 'standard' electronics that are being printed. Light
emitting polymers for flexible displays* and transparent conducting
oxides for use in window de-fogging circuits and 'energy-efficient'
windows are deposited using inkjet technology.

Whether you could get hold of the materials or not is another matter.

*The work that Epson did with Cambridge Displays probably had a lot to do
with Epson developing its high-resolution photo printers.

Thanks tomcas
I know about the toner transfer method using PnP (press & peel)
it's also claimed certain HP photo paper will also work..! I do hav
the uV facility but it's all trial and test, especially when you get
different batch photo-board

Just another crazy ol' idea I sometimes get, but it should be possibl
though,
I had this sudden whim when I was printing a CD on the ip5000, m
thought was..."So what if it's square instead of round"..

Not so crazy after all..! It all happens here folks..

The work realy would be in the firmware/driver, in getting it to print to
the whole stock, rather than a round area of it.

Or just make your PC boards round. Think out of the box!

This sort of thing has been regularly discussed on the mailing list
