printer is not recognized

For some reason my system does not recognize the printer.
I installed a new cable and it seemed to reconize it but
it still says no printer installed. I tried to reload the
software no go. The printer is a hpdeskjet 3820. We have
been having other problems but with the internet. Any
suggestions?

Did you completely uninstall it before you tried to reinstall?
