printer is not operating

I have a Lexmark 1170 printer and it will not print at all
The message I receive is that the print service is not running and something
about the rpc server. please help.

Did you try actually starting the Printer Spooler?

Go to your task manager, services tab, and check to see if your rpc service
is running.
