I am trying to install on a new computer in widows xp an HP printer from my previous computer which was running windows 98 I ordered and received a new installation disk from HP to install that model(600) to xp. When I turn on the computer it recognizes the new printer and asks if I want to install it, I do and insert the disk at the prompt, after a couple of steps I receive the following message "the file DOT4.sys on Windows xp home edition is needed" "Type path where file is located then click OK"
I cannot seem to go further than this although I have made several attempts.
I don't know if the file DOT4.sys is on my computer, where to find it or how to procede from here.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Steve, WinXP should have the drivers you need to get the Printer
working. Just remove the software and printer.
Then restart go into the Bios and enable the parallel port. Shutdown
and reconnect the printer. Then restart and let
WinXP install it.
