Win XP Home PC
Home network.
Minolta 2550 printer (ethernet connection) on network.
PC could not ping the IP address of printer.
Disconnected switch connecting PC and printer from WT54G router that is tied
to DSL modem.
Ran Minolta Setup Software and it all connected.
And it printed.
connected switch connecting this printer and PC to the Linksys WT54G router
and connected to the internet after reseting modem. see internet via IE OK.
now printer is invisible and will not print.
Tried printing test print and web page from IE - neither work.
Seems that router is corrupting the PC to printer connection.
What to do?
I get no other error messages other that fialed to print, and same each time
I try to resume printing.
Is there some WT56G setting I need?
Windows is frustrating enough.

This is probably an IP address issue. The WT54G router has a DHCP
server in it that assigns IP addresses to your computer and (maybe)
your printer. When you disconnect it, you probably end up with a
different IP address than you get when your are connected to it.

Most Linksys routers assign DHCP addresses at 192.168.1.100 and up.
This is the address that your computer will get. For your printer, try
setting up a Fixed IP address of 192.168.1.10. This will put it on the
same subnet as your computer(s) when connected to the router and not
interfere with the DHCP.

Hope this Helps,
John

Not certain about the Linksys router but as per description, the
network cable could also be causing the problem. If you tested the
printer with a direct connection to the PC without change the network
cable then your network cable might be a "cross-over" cable. Cross-
over cables changes the wires that send/receive the signals at "both"
ends and most network "switches" should automatically detect / correct
this. Get another network cable that is stated "straight" thorough.

Always went through Switch.
Swicth disconnect from router that is tied to DSL modem.
Only one switch.
Someone said that the switch might remember something so I shoudl try to
boot the switch (power off/on cycle).
Will try that tonight.
I know about cross-over cables.
Someone said that this printer might detect that anyway and adjust for the
cable. This is not an issues since i never used a cross-over.
