Hi,
I have a printerserver (W2k advanced) in an Active Directory environment,
registrered in the domain (and DNS) as xxx.mydomain.com and ip 192.168.0.2
What I'd like to do is to add an DNS-alias for this server, like
"print.mydomain.com" and use this name on the clients (eg
\\print.mydomain.com\hplaser) so I can move the printers to another server
in an easy way.
I can connect to both a) \\xxx.mydomain.com and b) \\192.168.0.2 and connect
to the printer, and I can connect to c) \\print.mydomain.com . However, I
cannot connect to the printer! The difference is that in a) and b) I can see
"hplaser" AND "Printers and Faxes", but in c) I only see "hplaser". If I try
to connect to "hplaser" in c) I get the following message:
"Operation could not be completed. Either the printer name was typed
incorrectly, or the specified printer has lost its connection to the server.
For more information, click Help."
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?
