Printer - group access

I read some where on how to set up printers on a client so
that no matter who logs on, they have immediate use of the
printer. I believe it involved assigning the computer to a
group and then somehow installing the printer for the
group.

In any case I'm not having much luck finding where I read
this, and I'm as yet unable to get this function. With
every new user/profile, I have to install the printers.
(thank god I'm only working with 10 clients!) Any tips
would be greatly appreciated.

I take it with 10 clients, they have only a few
printers. If that's the case, why not map the printers
on one profile, install all the apps you need, and then
copy that profile to the Default User profile--anyone new
logging onto that workstation will have the printers and
apps preinstalled. That would work on a per-computer
basis. If they added a new printer down the road, you'd
have to manually add it to the existing profiles on the
computer.

I know here, I have a few 16bit apps that use ODBC, and
was a pain in the backside having to remember to
reinstall the ODBC driver (because it involved putting
some stuff in <user profile>\local settings or
application data--one or the other. The item showed up
in the ODBC manager, but the connections didn't work.
I'm so glad I stumbled on copying to default user...
saved me a ton of time already.

Thanks Ken! I have found created the profile and copied
the profile (under system properties - advanced). But am
uncertain how to proceed from here. I don't see the
default user profile in the "User Profiles" list. I do
see it referenced under "Documents and Settings"

I will look for more information in my win2k book when I
get home tonight, but if you could guide me a little
more - I will be very grateful.

Thanks
